Its in his hands which he prefers, a dead daughter from physical or mental abuse or remaining an overworked figurehead in a religious order. Me thinks he's making the right choice.

How many "leave the truth" because of the behaviour of harsh elders?
by stuckinarut2 injust wondering how many are assisted to wake up after experiencing harsh treatment from "the loving shepherds of the congregation"?.
perhaps some were starting to wake up, and such behaviour or treatment gave them the push to leave?.
as jesus supposedly said "come to me all who are toiling and loaded down, and i will refresh you.

Pete Zahut, the loving congregation let my mother die alone. It took six months but they did nothing, not even a meal for her and her husband an unbeliever. She was too weak to cook. What better time to love bomb (kiss ass) to get a convert. The day after she died a sister brought food and my dad told her off, "You couldn't be there for her while she was dying, I don't want your shitty food now. No thanks!" Slam went the door.

JWs Among the Least Educated in the US
by jp1692 inseptember 6th, 2017: a just released research survey shows once again that jehovah's witnesses are among the least educated people in the united states: .
america’s changing religious identity.
it is also interesting to note how jws rank in the categories of: income, insurance coverage and homeownership.

Hey tor1500, It might be an urban vs rural thing. In my congregation in the SF Bay Area there were many with degrees, usually from before conversion. The majority here in the countryside are dumb as rocks. I've met only one elder in the surrounding congregations with a degree and he is viewed with suspicion. I left the Lie and have a degree now. Thank goodness.

The vast majority are a drag on society. I mean worldly society. Because so many are self employed off the paper trail, ie: landscapers, window washers and janitorial, they pay no social security and end up on welfare when older. Pioneers often take state assistance for health care (in the U.S.) that is. Hell, many JW's do so. The English call it "the Dole", we call it welfare and yet the kids have to cough up their ice cream money to dear old Tony and the boys. Aint that special?

Faces on TV Broadcasting
by TheFadingAlbatros ini agree that being photogenic is not given to every ordinary mortal.
.
but when at the beginning of every new month i am confronted with the various faces of those males showing off as a priority on tv-jw (see jw broadcating september 2017), i am asking myself if i honestly am faced with normal people, or with people who went mental already since ages ago.. is it maybe due to the fact that the majority of them already do not feel anymore like belonging to ordinary mortals ?

Losing my Hold On JW speak. Has it Happened to You Yet and if so, How?
by Wasanelder Once ini was reading a post on here and the poster said she went to the door twice because her mother made her go again when she didn't see her children talk to the man.
the poster said, "at least i got an rv out of it.".
ok, its been a few years, but for the first time i thought of "recreational vehicle" and not "return visit" when i read this.

Ok, its been a few years, but for the first time I thought of "Recreational Vehicle" and not "Return Visit" when I read this. After a funeral recently I asked a couple how their brother was. They didn't say he was well or that he was employed or a good father to his new daughter. They said he was "Reactivated". I laughed so hard. Then I mentioned how it sounded as if he was a robot who had broken down. Pointedly I asked if he was well, employed etc. Is this progress? I am glad I am losing touch with JW speak. Have you found this happening to you at all? If so, how?

Witnesses vying for "who has the biggest trials to cope with"
by stuckinarut2 init struck me that witnesses have mastered the art of revelling in "trials and problems" that require "enduring".
of course, the persecution complex, and the paranoia about these "wicked last days" no doubt contributes to this.. if one witness has some health issue, or if another has a family drama, they seem to revel in sharing these stories amongst their witness friends...almost in an attempt to elicit sympathy.. has anyone else noticed this?.
most normal people though outside of the org, simply recognise that life has its ups and downs, and need to be dealt with..

One new sister was at the door in a rural territory with an older sister who was very proper and didn't ever challenge authority. There was a turkey in the yard and it kept poking the newer sister in the butt. Finally she told the householder, "If you don't do something about your turkey I'm going to kick its ass!"
I was offering a magazine in the 1980's about lung cancer. I mentioned that it was on the rise and smoking was the leading cause. The householder said very raspily, "I have lung cancer and I never smoked a day in my life, get lost."
One time at a dark screened door, a deep throated bass voice said, "Yes, may I help you?" The screen reflected light and I couldn't see. "Well sir, I'm here to .......
"I am a woman, get lost!" Slam!!!!! Oh what days they were.

Things I learned listening to Witnesses for so many years.
"We aren't having children until the new system" = either a sexless marriage, or a superiority complex of being MORE spiritual than others.
"We aren't getting married till after Armageddon" = either someone is gay, or they are having sex already.
"I'm not going to pursue higher education with the New System so near, not even finish High School" = either someone has no self respect or is easily controlled by others.
